Thai Sam Hildreth intends to make a bid for the Ireakncss is probable by the way he is sending Liicnllite along. This colt worked a mile with Stromboii. and. while it was not a fast work-out. the ground being coveretl in |;M%, it was one of those Hildreth prescriptions he uses so successfully when pointing a horse for a certain race at a certain hour. Lucullite is an exceptionally fast lK-ginner anil leads Stromboii by five or six lengths in the first eighth. Then the boy on the Ireakncss candidate takes a hold of the colt until Stromboii joins htm. when the two finish out the work together. Iiotb under steadying restraint. Homiess turned a fine mile, easd up. in 1:43%. This colt will go to the post absolutely fit when asked. Hildreth also sent Irineeps and Drastic a gallop of a mile and an eighth in 1:58. He has a mighty big hand for the early stakes in both the t!ireo-ycar-old and the handicap divisions. Tom Welsh was on the main track for the first time in ten days with Trompe La Morte, Kilts and others, among them Seafarer. These three were sent a mile in 1:-1L-.. bunched throughout and all running well. It was an impressive i»erforuiance, not so much on account of the time, but the way tlie work was done. Itody Patterson, wiio took charge of the Cerry horses after the deatii of his brother Charles, has seven promising racers which cannot help bit; be heard from, if looks and condition are a criterion. Sharpshooter never looked as well as he does today. The remaining six are twik-year-olds. and one. Delaware, a half-brother to Tlie Finn, is catching tin-eye of all who see him. This colt may turn out to be a high-class race hor*o. Mr. Patterson also !ias a two-year-old filly. Lady ltosebud. a* sister to Old ltosebud. which gives great promise. All his horses are well forward considering lie will not start thei.i liefore Jamaica, unless there is a change in his pres-nt arrangements. THUNDERSTORM A GOOD ONE. Tom Healey was a busy man educating his youngsters at the barrier and letting them run down the chute to the three-eighths pest. Several of th«m snowed six-ed. He has one good-looking colt of S. T. Wilsou"s in Thunderstorm, a brother to Campfire. It is quite probable this one is tlie star of the string and he is certainly the best looking of his stable mates. Campfire and Corn Tassel worked together as usual, covering three-quarters steadily in 1:20"-%. while He Will and Straight Forward went seven -eighths in 1:31. All tiie Wilson horses are doing well. Every horse in the Healey stable will be ready for the races when called upon. William Karrick is galloping all his two-year-olds half miles around ." seconds, and he has several that should win races early in the season. Andrew Millers 1reakness candidate.
