JACK ATKIN TO BE SOLD. Harney SchreilM-r has decided to dispose of his noted stallion. Jack Atkin. at private sale. Considering his limited opportunities in the stud. Jack Atkin has been a most successful sire. Among his get which have shown to good advantage recently are George Starr, winner of four straight races at Havre de Grace this spring, and considered, by some shrewd horsemen as a most promising three-year-old: Charlie Eeydocker. winner of three races at Howie: Peerless One. a colt of great promise, and Sewcll Combs, one of the prominent candidates for the Kentucky Derby. It develops that the notice sent out by the Kentucky State Racing Commission, which barred J. K. Wagner from the turf, was an error. The ruling should have read, according to J. I.. Campebll. who acted as steward at Oaklawn. against J. L. or S. I~ Wagner, of Watertown. S. D. J. F. Wagner was not at Hot Springs during the races there, although his horses participated in the meeting, one of them. Hilly Nestlehoiise. winning. A correction will probably Ih- scut out by the Kentucky State Racing Commission. J. K. Wagner is a fur merchant in New York and a reputable business man. Jockey Krickson. who had the mount on Hack liay. which was disqualified after finishing third ill the seventh race yesterday, was siis|K*uded for six days by the stewards for rough riding. Sandy McNaughton. owner of the good three-year-old Coorgo Starr, and who also holds the contract on the apprentice rider Kummer. has about decided to ship to Kentucky at the conclusion of the Iimlico meeting. When Kummer rides six more winners his apprentice allowance will expire in the cast. According to the western rules the lad will lie entitled Jo the five-pound allowance for the full period of one year after his first winning mount. It is likely that owners of other good apprentices will follow McNaiightons example. William Midgley announced that all of the horses that lie brought here for G. A. Cochran, with the exception of Nepperhan, will be sold by auction in the paddock at Iimlico May 13. Jockey .1. Kyrne leaves for Now York on Satur-«lav to prepare for the opening of the eastern racing season.
