LOOK FAVORABLY ON ESCOBAS RACE Louisville. Ky., May 3.— Local horsemen are commenting most favorably over the good showing made by Escoba in his race at Lexington last Wednesday, when he finished third to Hollister and Bribed Voter, both older horses, to which lie was conceding weight. Those who witnessed the colts first race as a three-year-old are united in the belief that had he been urged ill tlie final stages that he •ould easilv have downed Bribed Voter and possibly have "ix-ateu Hollister, tlie winner. It was a splendid effort for Escoba and his defeat by older horses reflects no disgrace ui»on him. Hollister was forced to run the one mile and a sixteenth in close to track record time and but for a mishap after the start that forced Escoba to his km-es lie probably would have forced the winner to i|iial the mark of 1:44s:.. made several years ago by Bavborrv Candle. Escoba will appear again in public next Monday, when he starts in the Derbv TrW, for which lie is already being forecasted as the winner. |
