CURRENT NOTES OF THE TURF James Butlers Spur is lieing prepared for the Suburban Handicap, to be run next Saturday. K. D. Alexanders good colt Escoba worked a mile in 1:41% at Douglas Park yesterday morning and apiiears to be in tip top condition. A. K. Macombers three-year-old Incle colt War Machine is showing promising form in his work at Belmont Iark and appears ready for a race. The sensational two-year-old- of last year. Tippity •Wile-hot. will soon In- seen under colors. He is with the Sanford stable at Jamaica and has been training in a satisfactory manner. J. D. Wid-ners Lanius. which has not raced since his disappointing showing in the Preakness Stakes, is training to the satisfaction of trainer A. .1. Joyner and may be a starter in the Suburban Handicap Saturday. Harry Morrissey. trainer for II. A. Porter, is giving the high class colt Iltima Thule careful preparation at Belmont Park. Ultima Thule was purchased at the Corrigan sale early in the year for .ol»0 and is expected to figure iiniN.i lantly in the three-year-old division later in the year. During the Lexington spring meeting a widely-known breeder and horseman handed to a leading physician of Lexington a .MMI bill, with the request that he pay it into the local Bed Cross committee anonymously, but with the request that it In- credited on the 0,000 to be raised by the breeders. The doctor turned the bill over to Charles H. Berryman. who paid it to chairman George K. Hunt, of the Lexington Campaign Committee, who counted it as a part of the l -iugton fund and it has not been credited to the 0,000. Neither has paid by Mrs. John M. Clay and 5 contributed by tie- firm of Beuckart and Fotsch. These sum; came through the "horse committee," bnt were held by chairman Hunt. Had these three items been turned back to chairman Hancocks committee the sum already reported would have been greater by ,035.
