6 GAINSBOROUGH WINS THE NEW DERBY At Newmarket. England, yesterday, the Xew Derby, the war-time substitute for the Epsom Derby, was won by Lady James Douglas fin., chestnut colt Gainsborough, by Bayardo — Kosedrop. with Major W. Ast.rs brown colt Blink, by Stinstar — Winki]K p. second and Sir W. J. Tatenis chestnut colt Treclare. bv Tredennis— Clare, third. Having now won the Two Thousand Guineas and New Derby, Gainsborough will join the illustrious list of Triple Crown winners, if he carries off the September Stakes next fall. He is a great colt and it is more than probable that he is destined to win that high distinction. Blink was second in both of the great races and it was hard luck for him to find such a topsawyer as Gainsborough in his way.
