RECORDS OF FLAT RACING AT ALL DISTANCES OVER NORTH AMERICAN TRACKS CORRECTED TO DATE Under the experienced and expert supervision of the former Harlem trackmaster Billy Myer the Saratoga race track has been so revamped made over and improved that the establishment of new records is expected to be among the results of the coming meeting there next month At present the track holds but two records both at infrequently run distances First Whips one mile and liftytive yards and Hub bards two and threequarter miles the latter made as long ago as 1S73 1S73As As the traditional battle ground of the select equine hosts of the country at large it seems befitting that their clashing in splendid striving should bring Saratoga a better representation in the big table of records of North American racing Hence if the new track meets expectations in that regard horsemen in general will be well pleased pleasedEstablishment Establishment of new track records is common the present Empire City meeting furnishing an ex ¬ ample Hut the making of a new record for the whole country is dillicult of accomplishment for the reason that those now existent are exceedingly fast and hard to surpass Only one new mark has gone into the records so far this year it being Pif Jrs one mile and seventy yards in 141 at Douglas Park May 29 So if hopes in regard to new records at Saratoga are realized it will be accepted testimony to the thorough and effective way in which trackmaster Myer has done his work of reconstruction as well as to the superlative speed of the horses which may gain the fame of
