taking third place Quick in getting in action though somewhat of a bad yost actor he moved into a clear lead at once with Sun Briar his closest attendant and continued to suou the waj for the entire race A slightly wide stretcii turn caused him smme loss of ground but on the whole lie held to his task in good style and withstood the challenge of Sun Briar The time of the race 110 reduced the former mark for the distance held by E F Cooneys then three yearold Punch Bowl made August 3 1914 while carrying 113 pounds poundsThe The other successful one to carry the Coc colors was the filly Lacework by the Americanbred Tracery The filly was one of the consignment for which Mr Coe gave 58000 and she showed a game performance in standing a furious drive in the stretch to outstay Nan Kuoehr The latter was rid ¬ den by G Byrne and he aided the winner to suc ¬ cess by forcing Tommywaac and Ambassador III wide into the stretch causing them to lose considerable ground likewise costing his mount a loss and enabling Lacework which McAtee was keeping close to the inner rail a saving of much space Nan Knochr rallied well in the stretch and fought it out hard with the winner but eventually succumbed succumbedThere There were onlv three starters in the steeplechase race while an interesting spectacle resolved itself into a procession from the start with Shannon Biver the leader and King Simon his closest follower and Mcsbach third The above order was maintained from the start At one point King Simon moved up as if lie would give the winner a stout argu ¬ ment but his challenge was momentary momentaryMARION MARION GOOSEY SCORES EASILY EASILYThe The western Marion Goosby had comparatively an easy time of it in beating the pair of platers that made the contest in the fifth race and he scored in the hollowest kind of fashion AVoodthrush land ¬ ing in second place before Hoyat HoyatThe The fourth race brought with it an upset when Youaeed staunchly supported favorite raced home behind Flyaway carrying the colors of Morton L Schwartz The winner in this took the lead soon after the start and held sway throughout although at one time Youueed seemed to be able to pass him but the diminutive Preece Jr was out ¬ generaled by the experienced Byrne Poultney showed a good performance in landing in third place placeThe The concluding nice contested by maidens proved an easy affair for Commodore J K L Boss English bred Canso which won in easy fashion from Puts and Calls with Lucky Day in third place placeBackers Backers of favorites scored a big inning during the afternoon four of the winners being choices and the success of Lacework and Flyaway was also attended with losses for the oralizers oralizersThe The attendance was of generous proportion and the
