NORTH STAR III A HANDSOME HORSl E R Bradley Enthusiastic Over Great EnglishBred Colt Now at Idle Hour Stud New York September 3 K K IJradley owner of Idle Hour Stud in Kentucky reports that the rplendid colt North Star III which lie bought from A K Macoiiiber after the highpriced colt hail broken down while in training for the Kentucky Derby lias grown into one of tlie handsomest horses in this country At the time of his importation just after his brilliant career as a twoyearold bad been completed and when the Kpsom Derby appeared I t lie at his mercy in the following year lie was pronounced by many to be the grandest looking twoyearold ever brought to this country 15ut Mr llradley says that he lias grown and thickened sine then into the most splendid looking thoroughbred h ever saw and taking into account his rich breeding by Sunstar Angelic he should prove to be of in estimable value for the improvement of the thor oiijhbrcd strains of this country countryNot Not only his rare individuality and breeding Mr ISradley remarked are in his favor but think he lias just raced enough for the ideal sin Mr Maddens Star Shoot never raced after h brilliant achievements as a twoyearold and ever breeder knows how much lie has done for the thoi oughbrtds of this country I have an unusuall high opinion of his breeding for it is a coming ba in the male line to the inestimable lUacklot strains which has given to the turf Voltigeur V dette Galopin St Simon Persimmon Diamoi Jubilee St Frus iiin Uabelais Childwick Ncgof sire of llourless and other really great ones ai such a host of great animals that the St Sinn strain now is generally acknowledged to be best the world worldItcmeml Itcmeml er that I am not saying that North St III is a descendant of St Simon but lie com of that incomparable strain in the male line whi led straight through great winners down to th unbeaten racehorse and prince of sires St Sim was by Galopin he by Vedette and lie by Volt gcur while North Star III is by iunstar lie I Sundridgc lie by Amphion he by IJosebery lie I Speculum and lie by Vedette Of course my hors is farther down the line from Vedette than is S Simon but he comes through great race hors sires which like the ancestors of St Simon Invx proved their great worth both on the turf and in tl stud while in the female line there is not a strai which ravels out and ends indefinitely or stoi short of absolute purity purityYou You Avill observe that like otiier highcla lines of the great Illacklock strain including S Simons branch of it this Sunstar family show excellency and individuality in every generation ju as the Doncaster and Itend Or and the Isonomy an Isinglass which runs back to Sterling and Oxfor in England and the Itonnic Scotland and Glencot in this country have done This comes of breedin to pureblooded dams and rigidly keeping out tl product of mares which while short bred have 1101 and then produced a really great performer to highclass racehorse sire of pure lineage Short bred inures when bred to really thoroughbred sire often produce great performers on the turf In such strains followed out in tha male usually ru out iu a few generations generationsThis This year I have given North Star III twent mares ten of my own and ten fully approved out Side mures and I hope to live long enough to se them prove of great value to the thoroughbred breed ing interests of this country
