TRAINER BILLY APPLEBY IS DEAD W. Ii. Appleby, who at one time was a successful jockey and afterward trainer- and owner of race horses, and who was well known on all the running tracks in America and a prominent figure on the tracks iu California during the days when running races were flourishing, died at Reno, Nevada, last month. "Billy" was an amiable gentleman, well beloved by those who knew his sterling qualities, and a master trainer for his opportunities.
