JEFFERSON LIVINGSTONS BIG STABLE Twenty Sir Horses of Which Eleven Are Two YearOlds Comprise String in Training LOUISVILLE Ky April 5 Undaunted by his rather jnmr success with a Iano and expensjve stable during the season of 191 Jefferson Liv ¬ ingston is making arrangements for the campaign of the present year with a stable just as large and one that he fondly hopes will carry his colors with the distinction the establishment achieved a few years back when Col Vennie and Royal II were its chief standard bearers Me Livingston Was if visitor at Douglas Park a few lays a o7 stopping off here on his way from Hot Springs to Chicago His visit was for the purpose of inspect ¬ ing his horses under the joint care of Jack Mc Cormack and W Covington and arranging with those trainers the details for the stables campaign this year It was decided to divide the stable equally between the two trainers and to campaign both divisions on the Kentucky tracks beginning with Lexington and closing with the Latonia meeting After the latter meeting the best horses will be taken in hand by McCormack and sent to Empire City to be raced until the opening of the Kentucky fall season Covington will return with the remainder to Douglas Park ParkMr Mr Livingston was well plased with the appear ¬ ance of the twentysix horses he has in training and look a most optimistic view regarding his stables prospects in the near future He was well satisfied with the eleven twoyearolds in the string all of which are homebreds indicating that he is through with experimenting with foreignbred horses which in recent years Jiavc not come up to his ex ¬ pectations In future Mr Livingston will devote more time and money to the home products and with that end in view he intends to add to his breeding interests interestsCol Col Vennie which proved to be the best horse he brought from abroad together with Itoyal II are both doing stud duty at the farm of Home Respess This is the first season for Col Vennie and so great was the demand that his book of twentyfive mares was filled in thirtysix days Already Mr Livingston has written agreements for next spring with the owners of twelve mares Four ¬ teen mares have already been booked this spring to Itoyal II and the total number will be limited to twenty Mr Livingston was forced to decline many applications for mares to be bred to Col Vennie this season seasonMelus Melus the foreignbred daughter of Polymelus and which ran second to Snnbonnet in the Ken tucky Oaks of 1917 is to be bred to Royal II this season The mare met with n mishap early last year when she injured a front ankle and in con ¬ sequence did not do much racing 4 BUYS MARE ROSANNE ROSANNEDuring During his visit to Hot Springs Mr Livingston purchased the fiveyearold mare Itosanne for the purpose of breeding her to Royal II This mare is by Pillo Craigmaddie by Raeburn by St Simon and is regarded highly by Mr Livingston The latter also disposed of several of his horses these being Mayor Gnlrin and Omond which were bought by M Quinh of Kansas City The fiveyearold Felicidad which sustained injuries to his hip has been sold to J G Bnssey BnsseyThe The older horses in the Livingston stable at Douglas Park include Prince of Comd Spearlene Gibby Orenzo Larry B Wave Tidal and the three Kentucky Derby eligibles Major Parke Jago and Ponderosa The stable also has Military System and Florence Webber which are in charge of Pat Dunne ac Hot Springs Mannon another one at Hot Springs is out of training as the result of a kick he received at New Orleans prior to being shipped shippedOf Of the Derby eligibles Major Parke and Jago are regarded with the most favor and this pair will be prepared with a view of starting them in the big race Major Parkes record as a twoyearold is the better of tiie two He started in nine races won four was third in one and unplaced on four other occasions His earnings amounted to 4408 most of which was won through his victory in the Valuation Stakes at Latonia Jago started eleven times was first twice and earned 1753 Ponde ¬ rosa the only foreignbred of the three did not get to the post That postThat Mr Livingston expects much from his two yearolds this year is evidenced from the fact that he has entered them liberally in all of the juvenile fixtures both in Kentucky and in the east Fol ¬ lowing is the list listAlaska Alaska blk c by Dick Welles Woodlawn Belle BelleAlgoa Algoa ch c by Marathon Attentive AttentiveAlveida Alveida ch f by Fair Play Orlo OrloJadda Jadda ch c by Marathon Ethel Carr CarrJeano Jeano br f by Dick Welles Winter WinterMandalay Mandalay ch c by Marathon Foxy Mary MaryMoga Moga ch c by Marathon Flash of Lightning LightningOverbold Overbold blk C by Disguise Pietons Pride PrideStanlew Stanlew ch f by Rockvicw Starcadia StarcadiaVerdi Verdi Loon b f by Marathon Bonnie Eloise EloiseZinthon Zinthon b f by Marathon Zinfandel
