HAVANA MEETING COMES TO AN END Large Crowd Sees the Final Days Sport of long Winter Season of Racing at Oriental Park HAVANA Cuba April 0 The racing season of 191S1919 of the Cuba American Jockey Club at Oriental Park came to an end today with the run ¬ ning of an excellent program of seven races A groat gathering turned out anxious to participate in the sport of the closing day Racing dayRacing conditions were ideal the weather clear and warm and the track in perfect condition Stir ¬ ring contests wen In order and much enthusiasm was In evidence The concensus of Opinion was that the meeting just brought to an end was the most successful ever held at the Marianao course and it was the belief that the one to be held next year would be even greater During the meeting nine track records were either equaled or reduced Which was the champion racer among the older division was a matter of different opinion but it was conceded that Orestes the most popular thor ¬ oughbred of the Diaz stable outclassed the others and there was no question that Senor Diaz has some of the best material among the twoyearolds twoyearoldsJockeys Jockeys Murray and Fator were in great form today and rode sis of the seven winners each hav ¬ ing three to his credit Weymouth Girl won the first by a neck while Harlock beat Bellringer by a length and a half in the second The Avion and Blondel races were closely contested and resulted in neck finishes while Jack Snipe won with only a nose to spare over Jake Schas in the fifth Point to Point beat Cavan Boy in the following race by a length while in the final race Kingfisher took the measure of John W Klein by three lengths lengthsOn On Tuesday morning a special will pull out for Maryland made up of the following stables H J Kennedy G R Bryson A H Diaz F D Weir E T Zollicoffer Col De Estramnes G M Ridge S Polk F Schelke H Bowen L Brown and H E LeighThe Leigh The Kentucky special will pull out the following day and will be made up of horses owned by Kay Spence M Lowenstein Williams Bros Earl Lin nell E Baxter II W Plant W McKinney Scnor Tolon and M Shields ShieldsStarter Starter James F Milton and steward C J Fitz Gerald both of whom will officiate at Havre de Grace will leave on Wednesday Edward Jasiwr leaves for Cincinnati Monday judge W II Shelley for Lexington Martin Nathanson will stop off at Florida on his way north Frank J Brueu goes to his home in Covington CovingtonH H D Brown president and general manager of the Cuba American Jockey Club leaves for New York for a short visit His plans are to return to Havana and superintend the construction of the additional thirtyeight rooms which will be made to the clubhouse
