BIG SUM OFFERED FOR COLT PURCHASE SARATOGA SPRINGS, N. Y., August 2S. Samuel Hildreth has been offered a huge sum for his celebrated colt Purchase and refused it. "I really cannot say who the agent represented that made the offer, though I have an idea," said Mr. nildreth in speaking of the proposed deal. "I might be wrong in my opinion 2nd I would not like to express myself unless I knew positively. .But there is no question that the offer is legitimate. In fact, I had partly agreed to accept it when I began to think of what I should do with the money. Somebody happened to mention something about taxes and it then dawned upon me that if 1 sold the colt ihe government would take pretty nearly all the money away from me, so I decided not to sell for the time being."
