SAMUEL ROSS BUYS SIRE TRAP ROCK LEXINGTON, Ky., October 20. Samuel Ross of Washington has purchased from Major August Belmont the eleven-year-old chestnut stallion Trap Rock, son of Rock Sand and Topiary, by Orme. Trap Rock is a brother to the St. Leger winner Tracery, their dam. Topiary, being a daughter of the famous French mare Plalsanterle, by AAellling-tonia. Plaisantcrie won many good races In her own country, and in England won both the Cambridgeshire and Cesarewitch and foaled Childwlck and Raconteur. Trap Rock won a number of good races and Is now rapidly coining to the front as a sire, his progeny having won over 0,000 In first moneys alone this year. Numbered among Trap Rocks progeny are Lucullite, winner of nine -good races this year and over 6,000: Wood Trap, seven races; Dottle Aandiver, AVood Violet and others.
