CHIEF was saved behind the loaders until in the last eighth, then squeezed through on the inside and outstayed DAXDUE in the final drive. The latter was under restraint in the early running and raced I1EROISME into defeat while rounding the last turn, but tired when challenged. VETERAN gained steadily in the last half and finished gamely. HEROISME displayed the most speed in the early running, but tired when put under mmishment. ROYALLIEU ran a fairly good race; SCOTCH VERDICT quit after going a half. HOHOKUS was practically left. Scratched 144053Foilu. 110: 4431S P. G. The latter saved ground on the inside in tne early running, then came around the leaders on the stretch turn and finished fast and gamely. ADELB was a prominent contender all the way. TAN II. closed a big gap from a slow beginning. UNCLES LASSIE finished fast. SIESTA and SYCAMOOR were eased up in the hist eighth. SHERMAN A. set a fast early pace and, tiring, was pulled up in the last quarter. STAR COURT rushed into the lead at once and drew away on the last turn, then tired in the last eighth, but held on gamely and outstayed HOMELY in the final drive. The latter began slowly, but slipped through next to the inner rail in the stretch and, finishing fast, would have won in a few more strides. IRISH DREAM moved up rapidly on the last turn, but tired in the final eighth. ST; ALLAN raced on the outside of the leaders all the way, losing much ground, but was running fast at the end. PASTORAL SWAIN raced iu nearest pursuit of the leader to the last eighth and tired. RECOUNT ran a fairly good race. SALVESTRA tired badly. The latter was crowded back when going to the first turn, but gradually improved her position and was going fastest at the finish. WHIMSY raced into the lead in the stretch, hut tired badly in the closing strides. TOM McTAGGART showed much early speed and tired as if short. 1I1NDOOSTAN quit badly in the last eighth.
