Willie Shields, who is now about a 300-pounder, used to ride for his father in the nineties at less than 100 pounds. He is to continue to train the E- B. Thomas horses next year. The King of Spain is finding raeing in his own country a paying business. Up to the end of August liis horses had Won. thirty-seven times iu the seventy-eight races in which they started. Tippity Witchets -trouble is shelly feet. Max Hirandeh seem?,- to have overcome it. and the little Broomstick gelding, one of the smallest in training, is just -now iri first-class condition, though he most fancies soft going. Tom McTaggilrt, of stake quality two years ago, is still a good race horse when the going is mellow. His condition just now is a keen tribute to trainer Harrison of the Waterbury stable. TomV underpinning requires" the most training. F. Templeman. who "won the Epsom Derby on Grand Parade, is again visiting India this year, under engagement to J. C. Galstaun. 11U mounts will include Dark Legend which is quite right again in the Viceroys Cup. Whuliey and Wing will also ride in India next winter.
