Long shipping delays prove fatal NEW ORLEANS, La.. November 24. Horsemen here did not become a bit alarmed over the deaths of seven thoroughbreds iii Hie past tivo weeks, as all of them weretaken off the cars in an ailing condition, and there was not the least semblance of on epidemic of any sort at either of the two tracks. By a.strange coincidence all seven liorses came trim Kentucky, arid tliey1 wer6 in charge ofincn who had shipped racers many times before. The shipments fVomtne,BTue Grass" State were unfortunate this year in being subjected fo long arid tedious dclifys at Tarious places north of here, due to washouts on the railroads, and the" waits coupled wUh tiie confinement in tiie horse cars, naturally had a tendency to malic the horses ill. The general health of . tlfe thoroughbreds which reached here in good condition is excellent, and the host evidence of this is that nlbre horses- will be ready to race at the opening of the Jefferson Park seaSbn than ever before, ahc seven which died were Ella T., Edith L,i Bosius, Parr, Seafarer, Merrivale aud Joe Stabr.
