C0NNAUGHT PARK TO INCREASE PURSES OTTAWA, Ontario, August 12. Announcement has been made that the Connaught Park Jockey Club would make a substantial increase in its purses for its fall meeting, which is to take place at the lecal track Tuesday. August 31, to Tuesdav. September 7. They will offer nearly 5,000 more than at their last fall meeting, which took place in 1917. and approximately 1920.sh,000 over and above the offerings they distributed at the June meeting of this year. Thew will be no purse less than 00. and there will b: steeplechase races at 00. ,200 and one at ."00; also several handicaps at ,200 and one at ,500. Special inducements are being offered the jumpers, and many owners of steeplechasers have already written for stabling accommodation.
