STAR OF WEDNESDAYS SALE Sea King Ballyshe Chestnut Colt Brings Top Price of 3,000. Twenty-eight Youngsters Go Under Hammer for 0,200 "Poor Mans" Opportunity. SARATOGA, N T.. August 12. The chestnut colt by Sen King Ballyshe-, consigned by Messrs. Madden and Mosley, was the outstanding star of Wednesday nights sale held at Fasig-Tiptons sales ring, and after spirited bidding between IT. O. lied well and Preston ltureh the latter secured him on his final hid of .3,000. There was a vastly reduced attendance and the market seemed decid-edlj "bearish" at times, bidding being spiritless and draggy. Twenty-eight youngsters went under the hummer for an aggregate of 0,200, an average of ,435.71. Most of the colts sold were by Zeus, a black colt, dam Black Swan, being the top price for the progeny of thr.t sire, going to S. C. Ilildreth for ,500. The same buyer also lwught the filly by Zens Miss Frances for ,100. The pair of colts, respectively, by Black Toney Whisk Broom and Ultimas Lauretta Stolwortliy, consigned by Lucas B. Combs, attracted considerable attention and were s-cuted by W. R. Midgely and J. 0. Milam at re-spective bids of ,500 and ,500. The "poor man" was given ample opportunity during the evening to become a bidding contender, and several owners with a winter campaign in view took advantage of the ruling low prices to acquire material to start in the two-year-old dashes held after" New Years.
