TRACK RECORDS SMASHED Jorice and Bullion Hang Up Two 1 New Marks at Fort Erie. Second Days Sport Brings Out Large Crowd The Baggage Wins for E. B. McLean. FORT ERIE, Ontario, August 12. Jorice, a chestnut filly by Plaudit Abby C, hung up a new track record at Fort Erie today, when she won the Niagara Falls Purse, a dash of five and a half furlongs, which she ran in 1:05. Jorice, ridden by Kennedy, set a great pace and beat Murray in easy fashion by four lengths. While the program lacked the good class horses of the opening diiy, it was attractive enough to bring out an immense gathering. The fields were well matched and interesting contests were in order. The. Edward 15. McLean stable made amends for the defeat of The Porter in the Dominion Handicap when Tlie Baggage, a filly by the Irish stallion Lough Foyle The Mjnx II... won the opening race in easy fashion. The Baggage outlooked aiid outran the others all the way. Tlie winner was bred by Mr. McLean at his farm in Virginia. She went to the post for tlie first time at Saratoga a few days back and todays race was a worthy one. Another track record was broken when Rome Respess Bullion ran the mile and seventy yards in tlie fifth race in 1:41. Bullion came from behind and beat Wynnewood out by a head in a driving finish. Top o tli Morning was withdrawn from tlie fourth race for the reason that he was ineligible. Jockeys Yeargin ar.d Harbourne were suspended for the remainder of the meeting by the stewards for rough riding, and McGraw was given three days by the starter for disobedience at the post. Edward Stutte, one cf the old guards, who a few years back was rated as one of the biggest operators in the country, was a visitor at Fort Erie. G. R. Allen has arranged "to send Archie Alexander back to Windsor tomorrow. He shipped the horse here for the one race which he Avon this afternoon. R. I. Williams has obtained first call on the services of the apprentice jockey G. Yeargin, be ginning with the Windsor meeting and ending with tlie conclusion of the fall meetings ia Kentucky. Carroll Shilling left this morning with Commander J. K. L. Ross ireat racer Sir Barton for Saratoga. The latter-will be a starter at Saratoga on Saturday. lie will be shipped back to Windsor to start in tlie 10,000 Windsor Jockey Club Handicap 6ii the opening day of that meeting. John Schorr will send the Edward B. McLean racer The Porter, to Saratoga tonight. Jockey Jack OBrien will remain until tomorrow night. He will have the mount on Carmandale in the Buffalo Enquirer Handicap.. Before leaving for Saratoga Commander Ross announced that he would ship Boniface to Fort Erie to .start in, the Edward Maginii Handicap, a mile aiid a sixteenth race which will be featured on the closing day of the meeting. Tlie. Edward B. McLean stable will be shipped from Saratoga tq Havre de Grace at the conclusion of the meeting at the Spa. J. G. Bussey is gathering together a stable to race at the Oriental Park meeting in Cuba. Jockey Jack OBrien will accompany him and do the riding for the stable. The blanks for the stakes to be run at the fall meeting at Havre de Grace were distributed among the horsemen this afternoon. George Hay was an arrival from Toronto. His mission here- is to look aftqe. securing cars for the horsemen to ship to Windsor and he Immediately got busy lining up those who intend shipping from here to Windsor. I
