OPENING DAY AT WINDSOR 0,000 Windsor Jockey Club Handicap Inaugural Attraction. i . f- Record-Breaking Crowd to See Sir Barton and Other Stars in Todays Big Race. M t "t-i WINDSOR, Ontario, August 20. The final meeting of the "Windsor Jockey Club for 1920, which is scheduled to begin tomorrow, promises to eclipse all others ever held at this track. There are more and better horses here than ever before, and the program offered for the opening day is a high-class one. The bis attraction is the 0,000 Windsor Jockey Club Handicap, a dash of a mile and an eighth, in which a field of ten are named to go to the post. The J. K. L. Koss pair. Sir Barton and Boniface, are top weights at 134 and 130 pounds. H. P. Whitney will be represented by the crack three-year-old Wildair, while W. S. Kilmers colors will be carried by that sturdy c.ampaigncr, Exterminator. The other overnight acceptances include the Sunnyland Stable pair, Irish Kiss and Slippery Elm, Bondage, My Dear, Soldat de Verdun and Honolulu Boy. The track is in prime condition and u record-breaking performance is looked for. The probable starters in the big race, together with the .weights to- be carried and their- riders. , " are: w Horse. Ross champion racer Sir Barton here has added to the general interest in the meeting and the officials of the Windsor Jockey Club have made preparations to welcome the largest gathering in the history of the course. The remainder of the opening day card sparkles with well arranged races that have filled well, with evenly matched contestants that should furnish pleasing entertainment for the big crowd. Thp staff of officials for the meeting will be the tatne as were employed at the previous one. Starter James Milton and his crew got in from Fort Erie this morning and Judge Charles F. Trice reached here this afternoon. MORE MUTUELS FOR BLUE BONNETS. William M. Xorthey, secretary of the Montreal Jockey Club, came on from Saratoga. He is here to do missionary work for the Blue Bonnets meeting. Every effort will be made to make that meeting a most attractive one for the horsemen. The track at Blue Bonnets is admitted one of the best In Canada and many meetings have been given at this beautiful racing ground at practically no profit to the club. Whatever money has been mode has been put back in improvements and to increasing the purses. Ten more mutuel machines have been added to the equipment and additional parking space has been set aside for automobiles. There is now plenty of space available for parking purposes. It is understood that the dates for the Thorncliffe meeting at Toronto lias been changed so as to follow the meeting at Woodbine. This means that the meeting will conflict with the one at Kenil-worth. R. Ii. Baker came up from Kentucky to participate in the sport. He will remain for the entire meeting. S. A. Clopton got in with four of the Harry Payne Whitney racers. They include Wildair, Dr. Clark and two two-year-olds. Jockey Coltiletti Wilt do the riding for the stable. Exterminator worked a mile yesterday in good fashion in 1:41, the first three-quarters in 1:13. Jockey Schuttinger is expected here to ride the horse, but in the event of his not coining Butwell will be given the mount. Wildair worked a mile in 1:30. the first five-eighths in 1:00. Coltiletti will ride him. The two-year-old Moody is one of the Whitney string that was sent up from Saratoga. The Burttschell string got in this morning. J. B. Dunn is sending three horses up from Fort Erie. Sir Barton and Boniface reached here from Saratoga yesterday. H. G. Bedwell and Sande are expected here in the morning. A
