, BEST WESTERN TWO-YEAR-OLDS RACING PERFORMANCES AND RATING OF THE TWENTY SUPERIOR COLTS AND FILLIES IN THE ACTION OF THIS YEAR CENTIMETER THE LEADER The West has brought no sensational two-year-olds to the races of 1920, but the best that has been shown is probably Centimeter, son of Meelick, the Texas sire which recently died. Centimeter has won five out of ten starts and is the largest money winner of the western two-year-olds, with 4,200 to his credit. Baby Grand, the little Granite Babe colt in Commander J. K. L. Ross stable, has made a good mark in racing and has proven a game, tough youngster, having begun his racing career early in the season around New Orleans and continuing it with success on the Canadian tracks. He has started seventeen times and has won eight races. United Verde is probably a good colt, but" he has had but little chance to show his worth since his victory in the Bashford Manor Stakes at Churchill Downs last May. A few days after winning that race he cast himself in his stall and has not started since. John S. Reardon, J. W. Schorrs best youngster, has been about the busiest two-year-old of the year, and has lately shown he can hold his own among the Western and Canadian two-jear-olds. John S. Reardon has taken part in twenty-six races and has won nine of them, but has been unplaced eleven times. He has won in stakes and purses 10,845. The illy;named Ikey T. is another colt which has been busy. Racing at Tijuana early in the year, he was brought to Kentucky by his owner, H. Tullett, where he won, and since has been campaigned on the Canadian courses. He is a hardy colt, and. can take a lot of beating. He has started sixteen times, won eight races, been unplaced but three times and has won 5.7,765. The Ally, another Meelick, once the property of the late J. B. ElwelL and recently taken over by Lloyd Gentry, is a speedy colt and, while he has shown much speed in his races, it is a question whether he is the kind that will go on. E. R. Bradleys Black Servant is a fairly good youngster, but he has shown nothing which warrants him being classed a world-beater. Mr. Bradley seems to be blessed, however, with two j.eally high-class fillies ia Bit of, White and :Behfive,Idle.HourThe-fqrmer2isnbatri,having-defeated the best of the "Western fillies in bbtlTher starts. She had leg or foot trouble and Mr. Bradley retired her to his Kentucky farm for a rest during the summer months. She probably will be seen under colors again in the fall. Miss Muffins is another Western filly which is held in high esteem by her breeder, J. O. Xeene. While she was defeated by both Bit of White and Believe Idle Hour, Mr. Keene still contends she would have been returned the winner in both races had it not been for bad racing luck. Auntie May has been one of the busiest of the Western fillies. She has started during the New Orleans meeting and has been constantly kept at her task of rolling up stakes and purses foi her owner, C. T. Worthington. She has accumulated ,924 during her brief racing career. Desha Breckenridge, the Lexington editor, has what he considers a grand filly in Lady .Madcap-, a daughter of Dick Finnell Affable, by Hastings. Lady Madcap has started but twice end won both times easily. Anna Wood, Aphie Dear and Helium are among other fillies classed m the Western division, which have shown fairly well during the year. Here are the figures and rating figures of what are-considered to be the best twelve Western colts and eight best Western fillies. The ratings are based on their public racing: COLTS. Horse. Owner.
