RUMOR SALE OF TETRATEMA l.BY E. E. COUSSELL. LOXDOX, England, August 5. After Tetratema had brilliantly defeated Diadem, at weight for age, in a fast run for the King George Stakes at Goodwood, it was reiwrted that his owner had received an offer of 00,000 for the Two Thousand Guineas winner. On the face of it the sum offered is ridiculous. Even if Tetratema could command a fee of ,500 or more, such a price as 00,000 represents, with interest added, about twelve years purchase provided the colt proved a first-class stallion. The offer was reported in the big London dailies. I am assured that no offer of the kind was made. It appears the report was due to a misunderstanding, and the gentleman who approached Major Mt-Calmont insists he was entirely misunderstood. Later on, no doubt, the full facts will be available. Anyway, it can be. said there is no foundation for the report of c record offer for the horse.
