ENTIRE STAKE TO J. K. L ROSS Montreal Turfmans Horses Finish One, Two, Three in Provincial Nursery at Blue Bonnets Favorites Beaten. MONTREAL, Quebec, Sept. 10. The Provincial, Nursery Handicap, which was offered as todays feature at the Blue Bonnets course, resulted in an easy victory for Commander J. K. L. Ross when Thorny Way led his opponents home an easy winner. The race was productive of an unusual incident, the three placed horses being all from the same stable. The winner, ridden by Nolan, was in close pursuit of the early pacemaker, went to the front when ready and drew away to an easy lead .which she maintained to the end. A join had a bigger margin oyer his stable mate, Assyrian Queen. The latter was put to a drive to withstand Eva Song. The conditions of the Nursery called for horses foaled and raised in the Province of Quebec and was worth ,30.1 to the winner. In an effort to help the breeding industry the government of the province made special awards: to the breeder of the winner and the placed horses.. Backers of favorites found little encouragement in the result of the first three races. Weinland disappointed them in the opener, Venal Joy, Musket and Dandy, three outsiders, dividing the purse, finishing in the order named. Myrtle Crown was the choice in the following race, but second to Billy Lane was the best the Ross filly could do. Then Trickster II. added to flic discomfiture of the talent by finishing unplaced in the third race, May W. winning all the way. J. Walsh, who formerly rode with considerable success for Pat Dunne, was an arrival from Buffalo this morning and will remain for the balance of the meeting. Charles Crew has disposed of the Canadian-bred Old Pop to Robert Johnson of Bronte, Out. Bob Millette, a well-known race follower from Toronto, who raced the useful plater Smart Money a. few years back, was an arrival and will remain here for the remainder of the meeting. Jockey E. Fator came up from Devonshire and, will ride here as a free lance. He will return to Toronto at the .opening of the Thorcliffe meeting to join, the stable of jiis .employer, Stuart Polk. The reports of the auditors show that the record meetingof the Uonnaught Park Jockey Club showed a- profit of :2,000. The club distributed in purses the .sum of 2,000. The directors of the club sent out a circular thanking the horsemen who patronized the meeting. The patronage in the club members inclosure was three times greater than any previous meetfng and Lord Minto, Lord Nevill, the. Duke of Devonshire and Dr. Rutherford at times witnessed the races from the stewards stand. Ex-jockey James Foley has taken over the books of J. Dreyer, Harbourne and McCrann and will make their engagements. Harbourne is the apprentice under contract to J. Mclllmurray, who has been showing such clever form and gives every indication, of developing into a first-class rider. Jockey Parrette, who suffered painful injuries while riding the steeplechaser Ray o Light yesterday, is said to be in a dangerous condition. He was removed to the Royal Victoria Hospital shortly after the accident, where he is at present confined. William P.
