ABADANES NASSAU STAKES Leads Ail the Way and Holds Pickwick Safe. Cirrus Runs a Fast Mile and Defeats Audacious Livingston Stable to Be Sold. BELMOXT PARK. X. T., September 13. The Nassau Selling Stakes with ,500 added, at one mile, featured the card at Belmont Park this afternoon. Four faced the starter with the public choice. Abadane, proving the winner after a thrilling stretch drive with Pickwick. Major Parke, which was the medium of a big plunge from the Odom connections, finished third after being outpaced most of the way, getting up in the last strides to beat Sundial II. The latter was Aba-danes closest attendant to the stretch bend, where Pickwick made; a game challenge. The Freeport. an overnight handicap at one mile, brought three to the post, with S. C. Hil-dreths Cirrus the choice. Cirrus was an easy winner, running the mile in 1:37, in the same notch as his work for the race last Saturday. Pest Pal set the pace, with Audacious closest and Cirrus a follower. Best Pal was setting a terrific pace, but ran out on the stretch bend. It is said the Bradley colt does not take kindly to the reverse way of running and that he shows to better advantage oh ether courses. Best Pals race was a good one, however. Idle Dell took: the .opening dash for two-year-olds -WXJlSShifcqfUfe.J the second choice. Dough" Girl, taking second place and Light Rose third. Idle Dell made the running nnd won in a canter. Playcany showed early speed, but was inclined to swerve out in the stretch drive and lost ground by it. Ruplca won the selling steeplechase easily from Surf, with Prince Hal II. third. Infidel II. lost his rider at the seventh jump. Rupica was under restraint for the first round of the field. Surf showed a good performance. The Fasig-Tipton Co. will sell the Jefferson Livingston stable at Jamaica October 1, the opening tiny. Practically all the horses in training in the stable will be sold, also about a dozen yearlings by many of the prominent sires. A, previously announced sale of horses in training for September 18 has been postponed until the above date. A notice was posted at the secretarys office this, afternoon, calling for a meeting Wednesday at 1:15 p. m. of trainers. A committee will be appointed at the meeting to confer with officials of Belmont Park on matters of interest to trainers. It is said there will be a request to The Jockey Club to change the present selling race rules now In use at tracks under jurisdiction of The Jockey Club. James H. Rockious, long connected with racing in Maryland and Havana, died recently at Johns Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore. He was buried at hiii home, Marion, Ind., under the auspices of the B. P. O.. E., of which order he was formerly grand exalted ruler of the Marion lodge.
