, ONCE POWERFUL "METS" NO MORE The Metropolitan Turf Association is- no more. The sale of 500 shares of Belmont Park stock held by that association Tuesday marked its passing. The "Mcts," as they were called hack more than a decade ago, were a power on the metropolitan tracks. The association was a clearing house for backers of races before hostile legislation was enacted in this state. Members of the association bought 0,000 of stock in the Westchester Racing Association plant when it was constructed at Belmont Park and they still retain an interest in this stock. Those who still hold their stock will receive a pro rata of the sale of the stock, whatever it brings. It is said that for some holders it will be welcomed at present. The entire holdings, it is claimed, will bring at least 5,000.
