ORDINARY CARD AT HAVRE Chasseur Triumphs Over Columbine and Gath in Main Race of Day. HAVBE DE GRACE, Md., September 23. The SInepuxent Purse at a mile and seventy yards for j four-year-olds and over featured a cheap card at 1 Havre today. The winner turned up in M. J. Murphys Chasseur, which triumphed over W. G. Formans Columbine and J. E. Griffiths Gath. Jockeys played an important part in the decision. Coltiletti, whose poor riding went a long way toward beating Chasseur on the occasion of the colts last appearance, rode him perfectly today. He took the Murphy color-bearer away quickly and then, saving him behind the pacemaker, called on him at precisely the right moment to win by a half length, going away from the tiring Columbine, which was taken -wide at the first turn by Obert and allowed to make her move a bit prematurely. After The Baggage won the opening race she was claimed by Mrs. B. I. Miller for ,500. J. Kennedy claimed Brisk, winner of the third race, from C. C. Smithson, but the claim is held up on a protest of lack of funds. Butwell rod" the winner, which won easily. Jockey Wessler was suspended for the meeting for rough riding in the fifth. Edward B. McLean had the satisfaction of seeing a horse of his own breeding win this afternoon when The Baggage .showed a clean pair of heels to J. W. McClellands Wild Thoughts in the opening dash. The latter was the favorite, but at no time proved dangerous, the McLean filly holding a safe lead throughout. Captain Parr scored another victory through the field when his three-year-old Ireland accounted for the steeplechase. Ireland displayed good form, fenced faultlessly and looks like, a promising jumper. The haltcrmen had a field day Wednesday. Seven horses changed hands during the day by the claiming route. C. Koehlez started the war taking the two-year-old Lusmorouout . of thelpstrace- from "Mins, Wiu. -Je1 fords, for ,0b0. Mumbo JutiiboT winner of the third race in the interests of C. Dcven, was taken by W. E. Jones for ,800. E. B. McLean claimed Sugarmint out of the fonrth from X. S. Vail, paying ,300 for the filly. Johnny Marino, the New Orleans sportsman, paid ,250 for- .7. II. Louchheims Master Bill in the sixth and G. W. Foreman took Sam Lewis Manoevre out of the same race for ,175. Bal Parr claimed Fizer in the last for ,005 and A. Hill got Kalli-polis for ,880. E. -G. Vivell returned from New York today, where he went in the interest of A. M. Orpen in the promotion of the Man o War-Sir Bnrton-Bx-terminator race. Mr. Orpen, owner of the Kenil-worth track, is expected here soon. Jockey J. W. OBrien left here for Toronto to ride on the flat. J. W. Healy will make his mounts. Bill Keating has taken over the book of the apprentice H. Bemniert, who is under contract to J. B. Dunn. Milton Smith bought Tantalus from J. R. Skinker at private terms.
