MR. MACOMB EFTS PURCHASE Amount Involved in Buying Vanderbilt Racing Interest Without a Precedent on the Turf. The sale of the vast Vanderbilt racing and breeding establishment in France to A. K. Macomber for the reported sum of 12,000,000 francs, a- nominally ,400,000, with a payment down of ,000,-000, constitutes, a single transaction in racing values without a precedent anywhere. According to one dispatch Mr. Macomber has acquired four stallions, thirty-eight brood mares, thirty-two yearlings, twenty foals and all the Ynudeibilt horses iu training, as well as the St. Louis de Poissy and Deau-vllle breeding studs. Presumably the stallions are Muinteiiou, Oversight, Sea Sick and Prestige, though Tchad may be one of the four. Jockey Frank ONeills contract passed to him, also, and trainer William Duke will probably continue in the capacity lie has filled so long and ably, negotiations to that end being reported. The names of the brood mares transferred will arrive in due time, but it is safe to suggest that Meggs Hill dam of Meigs, by lien llrusli Runaway Girl; Rats Delight dam of Sammy Sands, by Uat Delighted; Glorioso dam of Rnhway, by Hastings Glory; Foresight, by Halma First Sight Oversights dam; Brume, by Prestige P.uela. by Bramble, and Iona dam of Peter Piper, by Meddler Martha II. are all included. ! There was a time not far back when Mr. Macom-1 ber had more horses in training in this country than nny other owner. Seemingly he is desirous of thosame distinction in France and in a fair way to attain the point of his ambition.
