BUSY SCENES AT LATONIA ; All Bustle and Activity in Preparing for Good Racing. Nine Hundred Well Trained Horses Available for Near-by Great Meeting Recent Arrivals. 1 BY J. L. DEMPSEY. CINCINNATI. Ohio, Septemlier 27. Latonia was a scene of activity during the entire day and. sp-rivnls of horses wore numerous. The contingent from- parts outside of Kentucky was especially plentiful, and according to the track superintendent alraut 900 horses will be available to take part in the sport, at this meeting. They comprise all degrees and will contribute to a diversified program. A shower this morning threatened to convert the course into a muddy state, but a cessation of the rain left the course benefited, for it laid the dust, and if no more rain comes the inaugural dash will be rnu over a lightning fast track. Everything is, in thorough readiness for the opening, and prospects are that the twenty-eight days of racing will come up to the high expectation of the management. The splendid array of stakes listed for decision has attracted country-wide notice and the daily distribution of purses, averaging 0,500 exclusive of stakes, will result in many of the better class of horses being seen in daily contest. The Latonia Handicap of ,000 added, at a mile ami a sixteenth, which features the opening days ,carL promiws to develop a rattling contest and Mridfchtloirr are for at least twelve- starters, consisting of the following: King Gorin, Best Pal, Captain Mae. Under Fire, Regalo, Paul Weidel. Woodtrap, Clintonville, John O., Minto II., Sterling and Sands of Pleasure. Miller Henderson, who campaigned a speedy band on Canadian tracks last summer, is among the latest coiners. The horses will race here in the name of E. B. Henderson. Jockey C. Buell Is with the stable. F. W. Statons horses, also successfully campaigned in Canada last summer, arc among the recent comers. W. G. Hall and J. J. Reed came witli a division of horses from Reno, Nevada. The, horses of C. W. Clark, which include Pictor, Sway, Briughurst. United Verde and the 0,000 Captain Mac. have been training iu great style since their return here from Saratoga and trainer Barnes intends a busy campaign for them, this fall and later on will ship them to New- Orleans. Jockey Wlda, who, is connected with the stable, will be able to ride here on the opening day, as the suspension he incurred for rough riding when disqualified on Millersburg was for the Lexington meeting only. Trainer W. Salee arrived this morning from New Orleans with three horses owned by M. Boasberg. They consist of Hidden Jewel, Grove A. and Annette Teller. Some ambitious work-outs were indulged in this morning. Among the best noted were Mnr-jorie Hynes, five-eighths, 1:01; Ben Valet, three-quarters, 1:13; Military Girl, three-quarters in 1:15; Pastoureau. three-quarters, 1:10; Ace, three.-quarters, 1:13; Last Coin, three-quarters, 1:15; Mysterious Girl, mile, 1:415; John O. and Wood-trap, mile. 1:42. There is au abundance of riders here who will wear silks during the meeting.
