TO HELP REMOUNT BUREAU Kentucky Jockey Club to Give Stallion Races at Latonia with That End in View. LEXINGTON, Ky., September 27. The Kentucky Jockey Club is making every ef fprt to assist the remount bureau in its quest for the necessary stallions need and this morning issued the following notice to owners: "The United States government is desirous of obtaining ninety stallions, three years old or over, for breeding purposes in the remount service and has asked the assistance of the jockey clubs in New York, Maryland and Kentucky in securing them. The army is in urgent need of good horsosf and army officers are of the opinion that the thoroughbred stallion is the . best animal to be used in the breeding of them. This recognition of the thoroughbred as an important factor in the armys need is of incalculable value to racing. National as well as turf patriotism should prompt every owner to respond to the governments call. "The jockey clubs referred to above all agreed to give a number of races this fall for horses of this kind. During the coming meeting nt Latonia the Kentucky Jockey Club will give one or more of them each week, the purses for which will average ,000 or more. The government, after each .race, is to have the option of purchasing the winner for 50. Under this plan it will be seen that the owner of the winner will receive, with the purse and purchase price, about ,500 for his horse. "Colonel Whitehead, representing the government, is at the Lexington track today and will be at Latonia Thursday next to inspect such horses as owners wish to enter and to issue to them certificates which will make them eligible to all such races given at Latonia or elsewhere. "Owners desiring to enter in these races and thereby help not only their country but the turf, are requested to report to either Colonel Whitehead or the office of the racing secretary."
