JOCKEY C. "H. MILLER "C0ME-BACK" BEGAN RIDING HORSES IN 1989 Tile veteran jockey C. H. Miller is a real "comeback." He has been riding great guns during the Empire City meeting. He first began riding in 1009 and lost his apprentice allowance in 1910. His first winning mount was on Okenite, which he rode for Edward Heffner. In 1913 he got into trouble at Havre de Grace, but was reinstated the next year. Miller was incapacitated from riding for two years thereafter by sickness. He was a member of Uncle Sams forces during the World War and returned to the- saddle in 1919, when he rpde hi: first mount at Saratoga. Since then Miller has been fairly busy in the saddle. He rode for Anthony Aste during the spring and summer mouths, but recently signed a contract to ride for C. A. Stonehara. He will pilot the Stoneham horses dur-iug the winter meetin;? at Havana. Miller was taught the rudiments of riding by W. T. Anderson.
