HIGHEST PRICED YEARLINGS OF 1920 NO BIDDING SO SENSATIONAL AS THAT OF 1919, BUT TWENTY-TWO BRING FROM $ 5,100 UP TO A MAXIMUM SUM OF f 14,000 Possibly the fact that, the high-priced yearlings of 1919 had failed to make good, with the exception of Star Voter, dampened the ardor of wealthy buyers this year. At any rate competition was not near so eager and the top price at Saratoga this year was 4,000, which compared illy with the 5,000 of 1919. Another comparison is that in 1919 ten yearlings brought an aggregate of 45,400, while this year the twenty-two high-cost ones only realized a total of 88,700. However, as a whole the yearling sales of 1020 resulted in a satisfactory average and the market was in a healthy condition. As is always the case., the racing of the highest priced ones will be closely scanned next year. One of the four which sold for ;100 would probably have brought at least five times that amount at auction in England, it being the bay colt by Magic Royal Quest. Magic was a good racer in England and Royal Quest is a sister of the, highly fashionable sire The Tetrarch.
