FRENCH DOPESTERPUNISHED Trainer Jules Dagoneau Ruled Off the Turf in France for Life for Offense. The French Commute de la Societe dEncourage-ment. sitting as a trial court at Paris on October 18. rendered a judgment of far-reaching importance relative to the increasing practice of "doping" horses. The inquiry was ordered by the Stewards of the-Longchamps course at the conclusion of the race for the Prix de lAquoduc on October 3. Among the horses contending in that event was Blchon. b. c. 2. by Flint Bock Blcoque, owned by Paul Vignernon and ridden by the English rlaer Hobbs. The celt had been a winner during the month of September at Maisons Laffitte and St. Cloud aid was a favorite for the Prix de lAqueduc. The performance of the colt, however, was so erratic that Professor Maurice Kaufman was instructed to make an analysis of the saliva and the eminent Australian veterinarian proved that the colt had been heavily dopned. The trainer," Jules Dagoneau, repudiated the, charge, but the evidence was ho complete that he eventually pleaded guilty and prayed for leniency.
