SWISS RACING ON ICE AT ST MORITZ The inaugural meeting of winter racing was held at St Moritz Switzerland February 3 The unique spectacle of horse racing on the ice was witnessed by hundreds of tourists and the local inhabitants turned out en masse to view the races The snow covered earth brilliant sunshine and an ideal tem ¬ perature the thermometer registered 20 degrees above zero added zest to the sport The card of four races was well filled The American jockeys Matthew McGee and Frankie ONeill who are win ¬ tering at St Moritz both had mounts but had to be contented with second and third place respec ¬ tively McGee obtaining second place in the Prix cles Alpes and ONeill third in the Prix de Zurich
