was the favorite in the betting and probably could have won had Coltiletti gone after the leader in the early stages stagesThe The Martha Washington Purse a dasli of seven eighths of a mile for fillies and mares was the secondary attraction of the afternoon and it fur ¬ nished another surprise in the victory of Uncles lassie Her success was narrowly achieved and only accomplished because she was best ridden Knsor had the mount on the Uncle mare and when she began to tire near the end after leading throughout saved the day by as fine a display of horsemanship as has been Keen anywhere He vir ¬ tually lifted the tiring mare aewss the winning line a head in advance of tlie fast closing My Dear the oddson choice With riders reversed the latter would have won easily Incidentally this was Kn sors third victory of tlie afternoon and the specta ¬ tors gave him a great ovation on his return to the scales scalesThere There was a delay of fourteen minutes at the post in the opojiing race as
