AGAINST GRAND NATIONAL DANGER A group of English racing reformers and senti ¬ mentalists headed by John Pull Horatio Rot tomley is raising an outcry against the Aiutree course and fences over which the Grand National Steeplechase is annually run They are demanding that the big jumping race be in future run over the milder course at Sandown Park which is at Ksher Surrey near London Of course the agita ¬ tion grows out of the falling of thirtyfour of the thirtyfive starters in the recent Grand National which Sliniui Spndah won as the only survivor One of the arguments suggests the discontinuance of the race as it is useless for stud purposes This is funny SIR since the Grand National has been run at Aintreo since 18l but few entire horses and but one in thirty years or so have won the big Jumping race The winners are usually geldings The one stallion in thirty years to win was Guidon in 1901 and lie was not in the General Stud Hook
