days race meeting of the Lower Cali ¬ fornia Jockey Club came to an end today at Ti ¬ juana with ilie running of a program of nine races the feature of which was a handicap of one mile and an eighth eighthG G T Miller furnished the winner in the Delhi gelding East Indian which finished in front of Ike Harvey and Regreso RegresoThe The other winners of the afternoon included Croupier in the first Iizarro in the second Duly Fashion in the third Ilarrigans Heir in the fourth Charlestonian in the fifth and Cobrita in the sixth sixthDespite Despite an interruption of the racing for a period of nearly three weeks due to oppressive passport restrictions on the part of the Mexican officials the meeting was the best from every standpoint held at the Tijuana track The imposing array of valuable stake races brought to the Mexican course a better class of horses than have been seen in the far West since the glorious days of California racing at San Francisco and Los Angeles The re ¬ sult was that far better racing was witnessed than in uny former year Great crowds visited the course especially on Saturdays Sundays and holi ¬ days daysIn In striking contrast to Fridays wintry weather a warm sun and a clear sky was instrumental in bringing out a bumper Saturday crawd of racing enthusiasts at Tijuana The track was deep in mud and the winners were those which had a liking for a soft track In the absence of a fea ¬ ture race the sixth attracted the best field of the day in which six sprinters faced the barrier to measure strides over a fiveeighths of a mile route Mannchen on the strength of his many good races in the mud was installed an even money favorite but failed his backers by finishing in last position First honors went to TV D Mil lards filly Lonely with the unfashionable jockey Kindle aboard The speedy miss forced Harry D at top speed and passing him midway in the stretch won with apparent ease Sedan was sec ¬ ond but a ncse in front of Nightstick which was going great guns at the finish Harry D after leading to the last eighth bled or might have been closer up upJOCKEY JOCKEY HURNS MASTERLY RIDE RIDEJockey Jockey D Hum the diminitive apprentice under contract to C K Irwin was the outstanding sad ¬ dle luminary of the day The midget rode three winners and his masterful riding was really the feature cf the afternoon Hum was successful on Tillotson Gen Kyug and Corncutter Their victor ¬ ies were accomplished under the hardest kind of riding in which their pilot contributed much to their success successMany Many of the horsemen that have come to Ti ¬ juana have caught the California fever as the saying goes and quite a few of them have pur ¬ chased land on the California side of the border The latest to invest are H Tullett TV L Stan field and TVm Hed Walker Thursday Carl WithiiiRtou and Karon Long who race their horses under the name of the San Diego Stable bought a tract of land consisting of about thirtyone acres Their stable embracing the following horses will be turned out on the land until next winter Private Pole Gwendola Aryanna Polly Wale Dora T Martha L Sample Georgianna W and Mayworth V T Anderson who brought the abovenamed horses here but subsequently sold them to Long Withington intends invading the New York racing field Anderson will be given the authority to buy some highclass handicap horses which will be shipped here next winter to represent the San Diego Stable at the next meeting meetingW W C TVcant will be delayed shipping his big string to Toronto Out until Monday owing to the shortage of express cars However he will get under way on the above named day Weant is shipping eighteen head having disposed of Tokalon March liars and Stars Miss Ananias and Sir Oliver at private the Kentucky Derby Thompson is a development of Tijuana and rode here for the past two years Thompsons tri ¬ umph was a source of great satisfaction to Harry Morrissey as it was he who recommended
