ANYTIME SAW WAR SERVICE Grand National Starter Begins Racing After Two Years With Army Among the starters in the English Grand Na ¬ tional this year was Anytime more than well backed and carrying the xpremier flat rider Frank AVootton and 140 pounds He was one of the thirtytwo horses to fall in the race going down early after a collision with another horse in the imwieldly field Neither Anytime nor AVootton was hurt The gelding an old halfbred had a notable career He was bought about eighteen months ago out of a miscellaneous lot of army draft horses by Colonel Little for 300 and hunted with and raced in small army iwinttopoint events in which he showed such aptitude that he was thought to be capable of better things thingsAnytime Anytime had served with the English army in France for nearly two years After his amateur racing Anytime was turned over to trainer AAood inaii at Yelvcrton He ran for the first time in the National Hunt Steeplechase at Cheltenham last year finishing ninth out of a field of over twenty In May last came Anytimes first win at Shirley and then followed a sequence of seven successive wins winsIn In all lie showed himself to be a stayer and a quick and natural jumper jumperAt At the English AVest country meeting of Totnes Anytime won a sensational race after having had to return to the first jump Colonel Little himself rode the old gelding at most of those meetings and among other trophies captured the cups for the amateur riders steeplechases at Plymouth and Totnes TotnesColonel Colonel Little had to go to India and at an auc ¬ tion he sold the horse to G AV Hands a well known AVelsh owner for 4500 4500Anytime Anytime is still young and is formidable in jump ¬ ing races of good class He is if all goes well with him to have another try for Grand National honors next year
