MORE MUDDY TRACK RAGING Planet an Easy Victor in the Main Race at Louisville Tryster and Broomspun Going GoingEast East to Try Their Luck in inthe the Preakness LOUISVILLE Ky May 12 The fallacy that a horse which has been racing over considerable dis ¬ tances cannot race successfully in sprints was again exploded this afternoon when Hal Trice Ileadleys Planet which won several long dashes this spring at Lexington and subsoitiently started in the Derby on the opening day was returned a winner this afternoon in the threequarters 1500 dash that featured todays program and was con ¬ tested by several pood ones Planet was in the thickest of the fray from the start and shook off Sergeant York in the last eighth to win going away His victory would have been much easier but for L Allens attempt at interference with jockey King who had the mount on Planet Brit ish Maid and Ituddic Kean staged a hard duel for third place the filly just getting that portion of the purse purseTodays Todays racing was over the most difficult track that has been here since the opening day inter mittejit showers again falling But the enthusiasm of the racing devotees here does not s m to dampened hhTI a generous attendance was again on hand to witness some excellent sport sportMud Mud performers were again in high regard and the public was eminently successful in its efforts to pick winners winnersIts Its success began by installing Hereafter in thn place of honor but the Goose representative gave them considerable concern when he bumped the fence into the paddock He had to be led to the post by a groom mounted on a pony which had hurriedly been requisitioned Hereafter began fast and show ¬ ing fine speed from the start led the others for the entir way to win with all ase aseJeanne Jeanne Bowdre only had a canter to land the second purse Bcrnice K was expected to give her an argument but she failed to get a portion of the purse purseThe The frequently disappointing Gorilla was an easy winner of the third race in which Nancy Wyatt and John Arbor came in for a good deal of consideration John Arbor raced most disappoint ¬ ingly and was always far back hut he met with considerable interference on the first turn besides beginning slowly slowlyMiss Miss Crestwood which has been figuring prom ¬ inently since the opening of the Kentucky racing season was ensily best of those which started in the maiden filly dash and won in easy style from Nig and Carrie Baker She was at oddsou oddsouINSPECTOR INSPECTOR HUGHES EASY VICTORY VICTORYInspector Inspector Hughes was another winner at less than even money His victory came in the sixm race over the mile route He led by a wide margin all the way Texas Special outstayed Serbian for second place in the last few strides stridesMary Mary Jane Bakers failure in the closing race was in a measure due to the poorly judged ride that Pool gave her Blarney Stone which disap ¬ pointed in a preceding race was the winner here with Miss Fontaine in second place and Mary Jane Baker third thirdJockeys Jockeys Merimee and Bryson were the first to come under the starters displeasure and were sus ¬ pended for three days for repeated disobedience at the post Jockey Penman was suspended for five days by the stewards for rough riding in the closing dash dashFollowing Following a stiff workout Friday morning Tryster and Broomspun the crack pair of Harry Payne Whitney threeyearold colts will be loaded on a car and started for Baltimore where they will fill their Preakness Stakes engagement Kumnier will have the mount on Trysier and Penman will be astride Broomspnn Both jockeys will leave here Sunday night in company of trainer James Uowe who will stay over at Churchill Downs to superintend the starting of Prudery in the Ken ¬ tucky Oaks OaksBroomspun Broomspun and Tryster will be shipped back here Immediately following their race in the Preakness Uowe will also return here Monday night nightThe The program book for the six days racing of next week was distributed to owners this morning Jockey morningJockey Wida who has been leased to James Hewitt will rejoin the C F Clark stable to whom he is under contract at the opening of the Latoniu meeting Elzlo Browns horses will be shipped to Toronto to take part in the racing at Woodbine Park ParkRichard Richard Croker former chieftain of Tammany Hall and noted as having bred and owned Or by when he won the Epsom Derby cabled his con ¬ gratulations from Glencairn Ireland to E R Bradley on his Derby success successW W W Harden came over from his home in Nashville Tenn to witness a period of the rac ¬ ing here hereBit Bit of White will bo an absentee from the Ken ¬ tucky Oaks as she is not training up to her trainers expectations
