SARATOGA HANDICAP WEIGHTS Purchase Top Weight of Likely Starters in Spas Opening Day Feature. NEAA YORK. X. V.. July 25. Handicapper AV. S. Vosburgh has announced his weights for the Saratoga Handicap, to be run on the opening day of the Saratoga meeting, next Monday, August 1. It is worthy of note that this great expert has placed Sir Barton at the top of his list at 135 pounds, or two pounds more than Purchase. Sir Barton is in the stud, and there is no chance of his going to the post, but there is a certainty now that Purchase will be a starter if he continues as well ;is he has shown the past week. Mad Hatter is next at 132 pounds, while the ever-green gelding. Exterminator, is in at 130. John P. Gricr and Audacious are ranked as almost equal, with the Whitney four-year-old having the call.
