ORDINARY DAY AT HAMILTON i Runquoi Proves the Victor in the J Main Race in Fast Time. . f James A. Sheridan Takes Steeplechase for Maiden Jumpers Leaving for Fort Erie. HAMILTON. Out.. August 4. Another fea I tireless card marked tin; fifth days racing at Hamilton this afternoon, tin; program being framed to bring together tin; lworer grade of horses. The fifth race of the afternoon, a condition affair, brought together a well matched field and resulted in a victory for Otto Tori-ells Uumiuol over Rubidium and Clean Goue. The winner v.as ridden by J. Rowan and came from behind to win by a short length going away. Rubidium took second place by a short margin from Clean Gone. Claymore cut out the pace, which was a fast one, and -when straightened out in the stretch quit badly. The time for the race, 1:44 Js, established a new track record, clipping two-fifths of a second from the. old mark held by Sailing R.. Conditions were all that could be desired this afternoon and resulted in smother large crowd journeying to the course. Wraith outfootcd a band of cheap ones in the opening dash and set the talent off to a bad start when she led Winchester and Gurgling Water home. The latter pulled up lame. Sheridan graduated from the maiden ranks when he beat Lieutenant Seas, with Flying Frog third. Arrangements have been completed between the Kcagram Stable and jockey ltutwell, who is at present at Windsor, to come here to ride one of the Seagram starters in the Hamilton Cup, which is to be run on Saturday. Trainer Joseph Tevis reported this morning that Dcllalini would not be a starter until late at Fort Erie. Dcllahm has been sulking of late in his work. Harry Giddings reported this morning that he had made arrangements to ship to the farm at Onk-ville the two platers Heath I.cll and Oakling. The former will be freshened up for fall racing, while Oakling lias developed soreness. W. 1. Frazer of the Canadian Racing Associations arrived from Toronto this morning and stated that he knew nothing beyond wiiat he had heard in reference to the change in dates for the second meeting at Kenilworth. Stake blanks for the fall meeting at Woodbine Park arrived today and were distributed by Joseph McLennan. The entries to the stake close August 1. The Toronto Autumn Cup and the Ontario Jockey Club Cup. each of ,500 added, head the imposing list of stake races. The exodus to Fort Erie will begin on Saturday, when the first shipment leaves. The Kenton Stable, G. B. Foreman, J. K. L. Ross, II. Giddings and numerous others have completed arrangements to ship.
