Won easily; second and third driving. CARPENTER took the lead at once and held sway throughout to win in a canter. TULAVAR raced m closest pursuit of the leader nearly all the way and held oh gamely through the stretch. HIGH-MAGIC began slowly, but gradually improved his position and, saving ground when entering the stretch, outstayed EAGER EYES. The latter moved up rapidly on the outside on the last turn, but tired in the last eighth. DOUGHNUT was cut off on the backstreteh, but finished fast. MARYLAND I.ELLE was never prominent. SWEEPMENT was forced wide in the first half wile, but took the lead when called on and, fencing faultlessly, displayed the most speed to the last eighth, where he tired and just lasted to win. SOFMANGHA, under restraint until over the fifteenth fence, closed up steadily and gamely and would have won in another stride. JOYFTL was prominent for the entire race, finished gamely and had no mishaps. TICKET was much used in forcing the early pace and quit. ROYAL ARCH lost his rider at the twelfth jump. KAI-SANG ran a game race through tfie stretch, but tired in the last sixteenth and just lasted to hold second place. WHISKAWAY was shufiled back when he attempted to slop through next to the inner rail in the first quarter, but finished fastest of all. LORD BALTIMORE retired after going a good half mile. The latter moved up fast in the stretch, took the lead briefly, but tired in the last few strides. PAFL JONES raced gamely all the way. TOUCH ME NOT began poorlv and was gaining slowly at the finish. INCOG, oft forwardly, took the lead under restraint on the backstreteh and, keeping it, held on resolutely when challenged; TOM McTAGGART began slowly and was forced back in the early running and, after endeavoring to slip through next to the- rail, came on the outside in the stretch and, finishing gamelv, was slowly wearing the winner down. NIGHT RAIDER meed close up all the wav, but tired in the last eighth. AVYNNEWOOD raced well for a half in lie.; ARROWHEAD set the early pace, but ran out on the last turn and was pulled up.
