ENGLISH RACING RESULTS Abbots Trace Takes Stockton Handicap Polemarch Best in Great Northern Leger. LONDON, England August 19. The Stockton Handicap, a race at one and one-quarter miles, value 5,000, was run Tuesday at Stockton-on-Tees, and was won by Lord Dewars Abbots Trace, ch. c,. 4, by Tracery Abbotts Anne. Jockey 11. Jelliss rode the winner. Abbots Trace made all the running and won easily by three lengths from a field of eleven starters, including Sir J. Rutherfords Statuary, blk. f, 4. by Jackdaw Statue, to which he was conceding twenty-two pounds. Lord Londonderrys Polemarch, ch. c, 3, by The Tetrareh Pomace, won the Great Northern Leger, over a distance of one mile and five-eighths. Lord Stanleys two-year-old Book Lore, by Chaucer Lady Esmond, a first-time starter, won the AVynyard Plate, defeating the favorite. Lord Londonderrys Aldergrove, by Corcyra Sun and Air. Aldergrove won the Spring Two-Year-OId Stakes at Newmarket. Lord Derbys Stanislaus, ch. c, 3, by Lemberg The Tabard, won the Zetland Plate. The Stockton Stewards Handicap, a race at one mile, was won by lyjrd Londonderrys Glanmerin, ch. h, 5, by Orby Bridewain, carrying 139 pounds. Childs rode the winner. There were six starters. The Hardwick Stakes, for two-year-olds, over a five-eighths mile course, was won by Lord Derbys Selene, b. f, by Chaucer Serenissima, from a good field. Jockey S. Donoghue piloted the winner. Joseph Watsons Lemouora, by Lemberg llonora, was scratched from the Doncaster St. Leger Monday because of being unable to train, owing to the hard ground resulting from the long continued drought.
