GRACE MAYERS closed a gap and finished fast on the outside. EL JESMAR ran well. CONSUL came fast on the inside through the stretch from a slow beginning. SAM FRANK showed early speed. The hitter, after setting a fast early pace, tired in the last sixteenth and was driving hard to outstay AVINNECONNE. The latter raced close up throughout and finished resolutely. DOCTOR JIM dropped back while rounding the far turn, then closed up some ground. KING GEORGE tired badly in the last quarter after showing early speed.
