SANFORD HORSES IN SNOW Twenty-Two Destined for 1922 Racing Working Under Saddle at Amsterdam. NEW YORK. N. #., February 27.— John Sanfords Hurricana horses, to be raced on the New York courses this year, are working under saddle iu the snow and doing finely at Amsterdam. N. Y. So reports trainer Hollie Hughes, who will have exclusive charge of them this year. The stable of twenty-two horses will probably come to Belmont Park in March. Only six of them have been seen in racing. Among them are the fine filly Chateau Thierry, winner of the Mineola Handicap at Jamaica, and Snob II.. a fine colt which raced impressively last year and won the Belmont Park Nursery Handicap in l:lli for the main course three-quarters. Sleiveconard last year also gave fine promise and Pierre Qui Boule won one of her five races. Pietrus was most highly tried, but was near death at one time and did not win. Neither did Royal Charlie. All in all. the Sanford horses had a disastrous time of it in 1921 and were only coming into their own when trainer Hughes began to shape them iu the autumn. There are twelve two-year-olds in the stable, all beautifully bred and of American. French and English lineage. Three are by the Hurricana sires • huctaiiiinda. George Smith and Nassovian. Four are from French mothers and four more have English dams. Five are by the English sires Tracery. Sunslar and Sundridgr. and three by the French horses Rabelais, Ma in tenon and Ecouen.
