Among the jockeys still in active service en American race tracks who have been riding as leaf as James Butwell wilhout. however, approaehinr: his record of 1.290 winning mounts during the last fifteen years are M. Buxton. A. Fickens. C. Fai;-brother and F. Keogh. Of this quartet Fairbrother is considered by many J the more finished horseman, although bis record of winning mounts and percentage ef winners fall below the figures to the credit of the others. While appearing in Hie racing action of each year for the last fifteen Fairbrother has not ridden as frequently as the others, accepting 2.375 mounts during that time and winning with 320 of them. M. Biixtou has always been a busy fellow, even riillng more horses than Butwt-11 did from 1907 to 1921 inclusive, but. however, without meeting the same measure of sin-cess that crowned Butwclls of- . fori*. Buxton has accepted 7.130 mounts in fifteen consecutive years and ridden 97tf winners. He wa.. the leading Amerian jockey of 1913. lickens is another who has been quite active each . year since and including 1907 to date with S07 winners out of .".SSS mounts to show for his endeavors in the saddle. He has never been brilliant. but meets with fair success each year. His bes year was in 1909. when he rode 123 winners out of i Mil mounts. In 191C he accepted 570 mounts an] . piloted 110 winners. F. Keogh has at times ridden with marked success, and while not appearing 011 the scene as frequently of late years as he did formerly his percentage figures showed that he had gained in skill with increasing years and o.xpci ielico. In 1920 he had a percentage of .25. a figure cemtnon enough in the days of Heiff. Martin. Burns. Miller and Powers, but seldom seen nowadays. Keogh has ridden SM winners out of 3.9W mounts in fourteen years, :i consistent record for such a loug ; period. The complete records of jockeys M. Buxtcn. A. Fickens. C. Fairbrother and F.
