« PLENTY OF BOWIE HORSES Thousand Thoroughbreds Available for First Maryland Meeting of 1922. ROWIE. Md . March J.7.— A thousand thoroughbreds will be available for racing at the Bowie track when the Maryland season opens there next Saturday. A large majority of these horses have been racing during the winter at New Orleans. Mobile. Mexico City and Havana and are consequently ready to show their best form from the start. About six hundred horses are quartered *t the Bowie course. A number of stables have Quartered their horses within easy access of the track and others will make the trip daily by interurbap from Reuning race track, Washington, D. G. The program for the two weeks of racing at Rowie calls for a distribution of about 40,000. or a daily average of about 0,000. The minimum purse will be .1200 and handicaps will pay ,000 aad *i;.." 00. Because of the fact that few horses of stake caliber are ready for racing so early in the season, no events of this character have been included in the racing plans.
