LOUISVILLE RACING TAX It appears that a compromise was reached on tho amount of license the Kentucky Jockey Club will pay the City of Louisville on T ari mutuel machines operated at Churchill Downs 1 during the races racesInstead Instead of fixing a flat rate of 1000 a day for all machines operated at tho track the compromise provides for a license tax of 25 a day on each of the first twenty machines and 10 a day on each additional machine machinei i On the basis of 100 machines in operation operationI I Derby day with an average of sixty to sev ¬ enty operating other days the city will collect in licenses from the machines alone aloneI I approximately 1000 daily during the races not including the 25 a year on jockeys and trainers which will amount to between 9000 and 10000 additional It will mean approxi ¬ mately 40000 to tho city of Louisville each year
