marked the third straight winner that J C Milam has saddled since taking over the Breckinridge horses last Wednes ¬ day Naughty Nisba was in with a moderate band and favored by her light impost it was not much effort for her to race into the lead soon after the start and win as her rider pleased Troilus coming with a rush se ¬ cured second place from T C McDowells Sportsman The winner was well ridden by VV Pool Troilus was ridden by E Pool PoolOne One of the best finishes of the meeting and likewise one of the most interestingly run races during the meeting came with the run ¬ ning of the claiming handicap at a mile and a sixteenth of which Neddam was the win ¬ ner hut entirely due to the superior ride he received from A Wilson who made E Pool astride Jouett look like a novice Jouett was probably best but Pool got rattled while going to the first turn and lost considerable ground there because of going wide He moved up to Neddam in the backstretch racing and there was little to choose between them when the stretch turn was approached but here again Pool brought Jouett wide while Wilson continued close to the inner rail Jouett again challenged in the last eighth and they fought it out in grueling style Neddam finally getting home a scant neck in front under a rousing ride Tomahoi finished a game and fast soing third thirdBARTER BARTER MAKES GOOD GOODThe The highlyregarded Banter which in his last race was beaten because of his Iacz of experience raced this afternoon in some ¬ thing up to the expectations of his con ¬ nections and showed the way to a good band of twoyearolds which made the con ¬ test in the second1 race He began well and displaying high speed led Jack Bauer throughout The awkwardlyrunning Ed Pendleton linished in third place placeThe The veteran Youneed opened proceedings when Ise led a fairly good band of platers home in tne initial dash He showed the way for almost the entire race and held Ben Bolt safe through the stretch Winding Through an outsider landing in third place placeInferior Inferior riding on the part of J Kcderis and D Connelly brought some criticism in connection with todays racing at Churchill Downs The wonder and Royal Palm the lat ¬ ter coupled with High Command on account of being trained by S Chenault uie quar ¬ tet ran on even terms for the first quarter and thrilled the big throng Connelly who had the mount on Marvin iviay citner through timidity or design took him back at this juncture and Royal Palm raced into the lead but only briefly for High Com ¬ mand headed iim almost instantly Marvin May to all seeming intents was out of it and Kederis was taking matters easy on High Command but Marvin May came like a rtash around the others and when ap ¬ proaching the turn drew level with Higl Command but even then Kederis seemingly made no great effort to ward off the chal ¬ lenge He did ride a strong nish tnrough the last eighth but at this imc Marvin May had the race safe Royal Palm followed the pair home with Lantados having quit after going good half a mile mileCONNELLY CONNELLY NO HELP TO PAVLOWA PAVLOWAConnelly Connelly on Pavlowa in the next race kept her racing wide on the turns with the re ¬ sult that she had scant chance chancePavlowa Pavlowa might not have beaten Miss Mi ¬ nerva today for the additional equipment of blinkers on the latter worked a decided im ¬ provement in her running and she displayed line speed from the start and won with evi ¬ dent ease from Poppye Dearie an extreme outsider benefited by ground saved on the turns and beat Pavlowa home Ten Sixty was regarded lightly but tried to run out and contributed somewhat to making Pav ¬ lowa race wide wideRacing Racing this afternoon was under delight ¬ ful conditions and it brought to
