i | ! NEW ORLEANS RESIGNATIONS NEW ORLEANS, La.. June 81.— Resignation of all the directors of the Business Mens Racing Association today and introduction into the Louisiana legislature of evidence that the leaders in the movement against rating in this state have not been actuated by sincere motives are expected to mark a turn for the better in the condition of the sport. A public hearing on the constitutionality of the Butler bill, scheduled for late today, is the next legislative step to be taken. It jmay happen that the lull will be tossed into the serai heap. This opinion is born of the effect which is supposed to follow the resignation of the racing directorate. Had the resignation come two weeks ago it is generally conceded that the fight for racing would have been won by this time. The resigning directors are: Abe Burglass, president ; Captain Thomas Smith, viee- president ; Victor EL Demourelle, secretary-treasurer; William J. Drawe. K. EL Lande. Kdward Nathan, N. P. Gravois, John EL Meyers and J. P. Schaeffer.
