; I JAMAICA STAKES CLOSE ON MONDAY, AUGUST 7 SARATOGA SPRINGS, N. Y., August 5. W. C. Edwards has called attention to the fact that the fall stakes of the Metropolitan Jockey Club, which are to be decided at the Jamaica course during the October meeting, will close Monday. There are eleven in the list and they each are of the added money variety, ranging in value from 5,0Q0 added to ,000. The big feature is the Pierrepon Handicap, at a mile and a quarter with ,000 added. The other races for three-year-olds and over are the Continental Handicap, at a mile and an eighth with ,000 added : Interborough Handicap, at a mile and a sixteenth with ,500 added; October Handicap, at a like distance with ,500 added ; Go-wanus Selling Stakes, at a mile and a sixteenth with ,000 added, and the Belgrade Selling Stakes, at three-quarters with ,000 added. Only one of the races is exclusively for the three-year-olds. This is the Montague Handicap, at three-quarters with ,000 added. For the two-year-olds the races are the rtemsen Handicap, at- three-quarters with ,000 added ; Oceanus Handicap, at the same distance with ,500 added ; Hiawatha Handicap, for fillies at five and a half furlongs with ,500 added, and the Lynbrook Selling Stakes, at five and a half furlongs with ,000 added.
